How to create and change blog icon (favicon) in Blogger

Do you agree that it is boring to keep you blog icon unchanging for such a long time? Is your blog unique comparing to millions of other blogs. Recently, I have changed my blog icon. Is it different from other blogs. Yes, it is. Today I will show you how to make your blog different from others by creating and changing your blog icon (favicon). You can do this by following these simple steps:

1. Create your blog icon

There are many ways to create an icon for your blog both online and offline. For convenience, I use an online banner creator service called bannersnack to create my blog icon. The banner size should be 20x20. However, it is very hard for you to work on such a small size. I recommend you to create an icon size of 200x200. After publishing your icon, you should take a snap of your icon, trim unnecessary parts, then resize it to 20x20.

 

2. Upload your icon. 

You can upload your icon to any image hosting services such as imageshack, photobucket. However, I recommend you to host it right on blogger like this icon.. Just follow this simple steps:

• Create "a new post"
• Select "insert image" to upload the icon
• Finally, copy the image url

3. Add code to your blog html template

• Dashboard>Design>Edit HTML
• Search for this tag </head>
• Put this code right above the </head> tag

    <link href='url of your icon' rel='shortcut icon'/>
    <link href='url of your icon' rel='shortcut icon' type='image/vnd.microsoft.icon'/>
    <link href='url of your icon' rel='icon'/>

• Remember to replace the phrase url of your icon
• Done!

How to redirect domain from domain.com to www.domain.com in GoDaddy

You are hosting your blog in Blogger and wish to use a custom domain. You have already purchased a domain from a website or hosting provider (e.g GoDaddy) and would like to point this to your blog hosted at free blogger.com

However, here is the Problem: 

on blogger.com: www.domain.com works but not domain.com!

In Blogger, you have setup your custom domain in Settings > Publishing > Advanced Settings. You have included your domain name as http://www.yourdomain.com and setup your DNS record for your domain. It works great when visitors try to access "www.youdomain.com".

The issue starts when your visitor types in "yourdomain.com" without the www prefix. It does not show your blog!

And here is the solution

You have purchased your own domain from GoDaddy, so you just need to follow these super simple steps. 

1. Sign in GoDaddy, go to my domains, and click on your domain name

2.  On domain information section, locate the forwarding section, then click on Manage

3. A Forwarding and Masking window appears. Type your full website/blog address in the field. Select Forward Only, and Redirect type :"I am permanently forwarding my domain. (recommended)". Then, click OK.

4. Wait a moment for the setting taking in effect (about 15 minutes). After that, you will see this change in the Forwarding section

5. Done! From now, your (non-www) domain.com  will redirect to your www.domain.com

6. To test my trick, just click on this link mobimas.info and see what will happen.

How to transfer blogspot to own domain name purchased from Godaddy

Having an own domain is what new bloggers/webmasters are expecting for.  When you have your own one, you may want to transfer everything you have done before to your new domain name. However, your Pagerank will be reset to zero, so be prepared for that. Today I have just transfer blogspot (mobimas.blogspot.com) to my new own domain (www.mobimas.info). That's why I create this post to show you the way how to transfer your blogspot to your new domain registered on Godaddy.com. Just follow these simple steps then you will get it  successfully.

Step 1: Prepare your domain

First, go to the site where you registered your domain. For Godaddy, log in to your account, then click on My Account to move to the next screen. Now, click on your domain name  (the highlighted region)

On DNS Manager section, click on Launch

Scroll down until you see the CNAME (Alias) section.

On the host column, locate "www" at the end of the column, then  simply click on the pencil icon and replace @ by ghs.google.com as the host name. You can leave the TTL (Time to LIve) at 1 hour, that should speed up the propogation of your site.

Save your settings and logout of your domain’s account. Fortunately, you will not need to adjust any more settings now that Google have added the option of forwarding the basic domain (i.e. without the www) to www.{domain}.{tld}.

Step 2: Prepare your Blogger

When you’re ready to your blog to your own domain, from your Dashboard, goto Settings>Publishing. Then click on Custom Domain.

Since you already have your own domain, click on “Switch to advanced settings”

You will be taken to this screen

Then, in the line marked Your Domain, put in the exact address you want your blog to publish on - for the most part, that will be www.{domain}.{tld}, however, you can use any prefix you wish.

Now, simply hit Save Settings, and it will confirm the new configuration of your blog’s address.

Lastly, if you decide to move your blog to a full-fledged host and return your old blog to its blogspot domain, simply click the blogspot.com link next to Switch to.

What do you do now?

There are a few things that you will need to do after getting your blog’s address moved over from Blogspot to your own domain. Your list of things may vary, depending on what you all have on your site.

- Let everyone know about your new address, and tell them to update their links.
- If you have trackers installed, update the addresses they’re tracking to include the new address for your blog
- If you’re a part of social networking sites like Bumpzee or Mybloglog, change the address of your blog there; on Bumpzee, that means that your blog will be placed back in the moderation queue for any communities you’re a part of.
- Update the links within your site to reflect your new domain. While all of those links will still work, it’s a good idea to change over the address in case you decide to move your blog in the future.

How to avoid Paypal account limitation (don't and do) [shopping tips]

 PayPal monitor closely on our daily activities, and when they find your transaction suspicious they will hit the button. And when PayPal suspend your account and inform you that your Paypal account is limited accessed, you pretty much can’t perform any transactions until problem is solved. Here’s generally your restriction when account is limited by PayPal:

• No accepting of incoming funds
• No sending funds
• Unable to close and terminate account
• Unable to add or move your credit cards
• etc,

You account is basically freeze until problem is solved.

 
Thus, how to avoid Paypal account limitation?
Here are some useful tips for you.
 
DON'T

1. Do not use Proxy or Virtual Private Network, e.g, Openvpn, Hotshield ...when accessing your paypal account (this is strictly prohibited by paypal)

2. Do not login multiple (two or more paypal account) account in one browser because paypal do not allow multiple accounts with one person  ( however, one personal and one premier/business account is allowed in one user)

3.  Do not use mobile browser like operamini and the likes to access your paypal account because this browsers are directed to US IP which may detected by paypal as a VPN (Virtual Private Network)

4. Do not use newly recieved funds because paypal may detect it as a suspicious/fraudulent activity (use the funds within/atleast 2hrs after recieving the fund/s)

5. Do not make many transactions at a time.

6. Do not withdraw your whole balance for the first time. Limit your 1^st amount withdrawal to a small amount especially if you have an unverified account. Withdrawing a very heavy amount from your brand new account seems like some kind of scam to PayPal so limit your first PayPal withdrawal to something like 100$ and increase the amount slowly.

7. Do not change your account details frequently. This will raise a flag on your account. Keep all the details current and make sure that you have all the required documents to prove all those account details. A photo I-card with your address or a utility bill with your name and address is sufficient.

8. Don't receive a huge amount in 1 transaction (e.g 1000USD). its always recommended to split up the receiving and withdrawal process to small amounts.If possible then always try to split up the payments below 500USD.Also do not try to withdraw the whole amount immediately after receiving.

DO

1. Always Clear your browser's cache/cookies before logging-in and after logging-out

2. Make sure your paypal account details are real information of yours (address, name) because you will need this for account lmitation removal

3. Use a Personal Account only (minimal expusure to account limitation)

4. Verify your account ASAP.  If your account is unverified then it have the highest chances for getting limited, cause unverified accounts  are often used by scammers for money laundering
